Here we go...

So, I'm no longer overweight, or a banker but it's time for a new challenge.  And to raise some money for charity.  Since that blog post, 28th September 2012, things have changed somewhat!  I've done not one, but 2 Tough Mudders, lost my job, had my heart broken, and moved to Stevenage.

The first Tough Mudder was just before I moved to St Evenage and although it was a fantastic experience (apart form the Electro Shock Therapy, which was worse than you would think) I actually struggled with the running aspect.  It was 11.5 miles and I'd thought I was fit enough but Sam and Andrew regularly had to stop to wait for me.  When I got to Stevenage, with no job and lots of time on my hands, I decided to join a running club to rectify that.  A quick Google search identified the UK's Best Running Club as being right on my doorstep - the Fairlands Valley Spartans.  I've been running with the Spartans now since May and aside from making some great friends have improved my running no end.  In fact, I have been inspired to run a marathon and so have just signed up to do the Rome Marathon on March 23rd 2014.  Marathon training starts in earnest tomorrow evening with the Spartans' interval session.

Next post - time to decide on a charity to run for...
